Where Are We?: At the extreme northern end of north-central New Mexico, northern Taos County, you will find us. Drive South of San Luis,Colorado about 18 miles or about or about 55 miles north of Taos, NM and here we are.; On a roadmap you will see Costilla, Questa and Red River and maybe you'll see Amalia, NM. Farther north you will see Alamosa, Ft. Garland and Pueblo, Colorado.; Coordinates: Latitude 36.91 & Longitude -105.46; NM Highway 522 N to Costilla. Turn East on NM Highway 196 7 miles to the village of Amalia. The paved road becomes a gravel road. Continue on for 4-miles on the Carson National Forest Road until you see the entrance to the Rio Costilla Park on the South side of the road.
